As a clarinetist, DeBoer has performed with a wide variety of groups throughout the United States. He is currently the principal clarinetist of the Fort Smith Symphony and performs frequently with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra as well. While in Arizona, he regularly played with the Arizona Opera and also played with the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra, Paradise Winds, Symphony of the Southwest, and was a member of the EastWest Trio. As well, DeBoer has soloed with the 43rd Army Band, UAFS Symphonic Band, UAFS Jazz Band, Hastings Symphony Orchestra, Hastings College Wind Ensemble, and the Northwest Wind Symphony. In addition, DeBoer performed as a recitalist for the International Clarinet Association ClarinetFest in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in August 2014.

In 2013 he released his first solo album Violet Convergence: Viola Works on Clarinet featuring his own transcribed arrangements of various viola works by the English composer York Bowen. Three of the transcriptions heard on this album are published by Potenza Music. DeBoer's newest album, CrossOver: Clarinet works by Nikola Resanovic, was released in February 2015 and is available at Potenza Music. While an active performer, DeBoer also seeks to contribute to the creation of music and the academic world. He has recently commissioned a work for clarinet and bass clarinet/baritone saxophone from composer, Jamie Wind Whitmarsh, as well as a piece for solo clarinet entitled "Thunder-Blossom" by Nikola Resanovic (2014). He also helped in the commission of works by Kenji Bunch, Noah D. Taylor, and Roshanne Etezady.

In addition to his performance career, DeBoer has taught master classes on several campuses throughout the U.S. His students have won positions in youth orchestras as well as in region and state festivals and competitions. DeBoer also has students who are currently or have been a part of such prestigious schools as New York University, Arizona State University, The Ohio State University, and Wheaton College.

He also holds a Bachelor of Music degree in music education and performance from Hastings College where he studied with Debra Rhodes. DeBoer has also had additional studies with Pascual Martinez-Forteza, Susan Warner, Scott Wright, Tod Kerstetter, Bradley Wong, Richard Nunemaker, and Bill King.

While maintaining a career as a performing artist, DeBoer also has experience as a public school teacher, having taught for three years at BASIS Chandler, a nationally recognized charter school in Chandler, Arizona, and currently teaches a large studio of clarinet students. He currently lives in Fort Smith, Arkansas, with his wife and sons.

"CrossOver" is reviewed

Another Season Around the Corner
August 2, 2016

Once again, I have been terrible with updating the news section. My apologies! Here are a few highlights of what has been happening and what is to come for the fall. My solo performance in April of Resanovic's clarinet concerto, Collateral Damage, was a resounding success! Thank you to Byron Jensen and the Hastings Symphony Orchestra for having me and for such a great experience! Please visit my YouTube Channel (link at the bottom of the page) to see the performance of the second movement titled "Funeral for a Rock Star." In May I became the new principal clarinetist of the Fort Smith Symphony under the direction of maestro, John Jeter. I'm really looking forward to performing with them this season, especially as the first performance will be with world-renowned artist, Joshua Bell! Also, I was recently informed that my album, CrossOver, will be reviewed in the September 2016 edition of The Clarinet, the official journal of the International Clarinet Association. Very exciting! I'll update you with the review in September! Lastly, stay tuned for information regarding the second annual UAFS Clarinet Day to take place on Saturday, November 5th.

Clarinet Happenings Update
October 24, 2015

It has been awhile since I've posted any news, but a lot has been happening! Here are a few of the highlights: In September my clarinet studio and I hosted Clarinet Day at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith to over 60 registered clarinetists from around the region. We had internationally renowned artist, Robert Spring, as our guest artist. We all had a great time and learned lots! Visit my Facebook page and UAFS Clarinet Studio page to see some pictures from the day. I have been performing frequently throughout the state including a successful recital recently. I also have upcoming solo appearances with the UAFS Jazz Band and the Hastings Symphony Orchestra. Be sure to check the schedule section for details regarding these and other upcoming performances! Check back soon for more news updates!
